Rainbow Sprinkle Donuts

Colorful and fun, these rainbow sprinkle donuts are soft, fluffy, and perfect for any celebration or weekend treat. Baked instead of fried, they are topped with a simple glaze and plenty of vibrant sprinkles.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 3/4 cup buttermilk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar (for glaze)
  • 23 tbsp milk (for glaze)
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract (for glaze)
  • 1/2 cup rainbow sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a donut pan.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, mix together buttermilk, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla extract.
  4. Combine wet ingredients with dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
  5. Spoon the batter into the donut pan, filling each mold about 2/3 full.
  6. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until donuts spring back when touched.
  7. Let donuts cool in the pan for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
  8. While donuts cool, prepare glaze by whisking together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth.
  9. Dip each donut in the glaze and immediately top with rainbow sprinkles.
  10. Allow glaze to set before serving.

Notes

  • For a thicker glaze, reduce the amount of milk.
  • Sprinkles can be customized by occasion or preference.
  • Donuts are best enjoyed the same day but can be stored in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
