Peach Iced Green Tea

A light, refreshing iced drink that pairs fragrant green tea with naturally sweet summer peaches for the perfect warm-weather sipper.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups (1 L) water
  • 4 green tea bags (or 4 tsp loose-leaf green tea in an infuser)
  • 2 ripe peaches, pitted and sliced
  • 2 Tbsp granulated sugar (or agave syrup) — adjust to taste
  • 1 Tbsp fresh lemon juice (optional, brightens flavor)
  • Ice cubes, for serving
  • Fresh mint sprigs, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Bring the water to a simmer (not a full boil) in a saucepan. Remove from heat.
  2. Add the green tea bags, cover, and steep for 3 minutes. Remove the tea bags to prevent bitterness.
  3. Stir in the sugar until dissolved, then let the tea cool for about 10 minutes.
  4. Meanwhile, place the peach slices in a large heat-safe pitcher. Lightly muddle with a spoon to release juices.
  5. Pour the warm sweetened tea over the peaches. Add lemon juice if using. Let stand until room temperature.
  6. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour (or up to 24 hours) so the peach flavor infuses.
  7. When ready to serve, fill glasses with ice, strain or spoon the tea over the ice (include peach slices if desired), and garnish with mint.

Notes

  • White peaches or nectarines work just as well and give a delicate floral note.
  • For stronger peach flavor, swap ½ cup of the water for unsweetened peach nectar.
  • Make it sparkling by topping each glass with a splash of chilled soda water.
  • Replace sugar with maple syrup or stevia for different dietary needs.
