Chicken Street Tacos Recipe

These Chicken Street Tacos are a quick and flavorful Mexican-inspired dish, featuring marinated chicken, fresh toppings, and warm corn tortillas — perfect for any taco night.

  • 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken thighs
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • Juice of 1 lime
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
  • 8 small corn tortillas
  • 1/2 cup diced white onion
  • 1/2 cup chopped fresh cilantro (for garnish)
  • 1/2 cup crumbled cotija cheese (optional)
  • 1 lime, cut into wedges

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix olive oil, garlic, chili powder, cumin, paprika, onion powder, salt, pepper, and lime juice.
  2. Add chicken thighs to the marinade and coat evenly. Let marinate for at least 30 minutes.
  3. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook marinated chicken for 5–6 minutes per side or until cooked through.
  4. Remove chicken from heat, let rest for 5 minutes, then chop into small pieces.
  5. Warm corn tortillas in a dry skillet or microwave.
  6. Assemble tacos by filling tortillas with chopped chicken, diced onion, and chopped cilantro.
  7. Top with cotija cheese if using and serve with lime wedges.

Notes

  • Marinate the chicken overnight for deeper flavor.
  • Use flour tortillas if preferred.
  • Add avocado, salsa, or hot sauce for extra toppings.
