Vanilla Blossom Birthday Cake

A light and fluffy vanilla cake with a subtle floral essence, perfect for celebrating birthdays with elegance and sweetness.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 3/4 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp almond extract (optional)
  • 1 1/4 cups whole milk
  • 1 tbsp edible flower essence (like orange blossom or rose water)
  • Buttercream frosting (for decorating)
  • Edible flowers (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in vanilla and almond extract.
  5. Mix in the edible flower essence.
  6. Alternate adding the flour mixture and milk to the wet ingredients, beginning and ending with the flour mixture. Mix just until combined.
  7. Divide batter evenly between prepared pans and smooth the tops.
  8. Bake for 25–30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  9. Let cakes cool in pans for 10 minutes, then turn out onto wire racks to cool completely.
  10. Frost with buttercream and decorate with edible flowers as desired.

Notes

  • Use fresh edible flowers that are food-safe and pesticide-free.
  • The almond extract adds depth but can be omitted for a pure vanilla flavor.
  • Orange blossom water gives a fragrant floral note—adjust to taste.
