- 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter
- 2 1/4 cups granulated sugar
- 1 1/4 cups unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 4 large eggs
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup chocolate chips
- 1 cup caramel sauce (store-bought or homemade)
- 1 teaspoon sea salt flakes (for topping)
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9×13 inch baking pan with parchment paper.
- In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Remove from heat and stir in sugar, cocoa powder, salt, baking powder, and vanilla.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time until smooth and glossy.
- Stir in the flour until just combined, then fold in chocolate chips.
- Pour half of the batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
- Drizzle half of the caramel sauce over the batter and swirl with a knife.
- Spread the remaining brownie batter on top and drizzle with the rest of the caramel. Swirl again.
- Sprinkle with sea salt flakes.
- Bake for 30–35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out with a few moist crumbs.
- Cool completely before cutting into squares.
