Piped Butter Cookies

Piped butter cookies are classic, melt-in-your-mouth treats made with a rich, buttery dough that is piped into elegant shapes and baked to golden perfection.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (227g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 2/3 cup (80g) powdered sugar
  • 1 large egg, room temperature
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 2 cups (240g) all-purpose flour

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, cream the softened butter and powdered sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the egg and vanilla extract, beating until fully combined.
  4. Mix in the salt and gradually add the flour, mixing until a soft dough forms.
  5. Transfer the dough to a piping bag fitted with a large star tip.
  6. Pipe the dough into desired shapes (e.g., rosettes, S-shapes) onto the prepared baking sheets.
  7. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are just beginning to turn golden.
  8. Allow to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • Ensure butter is properly softened for easy piping.
  • If the dough is too stiff to pipe, let it sit at room temperature for a few minutes or add a tiny splash of milk.
  • Cookies can be dipped in chocolate or decorated with sprinkles for variety.
