Peach chutney

A sweet, tangy, and mildly spiced peach chutney made with fresh peaches, vinegar, sugar, and warm spices. Perfect as a condiment for grilled meats, sandwiches, or cheese boards.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups peeled and chopped fresh peaches (about 45 medium peaches)
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4 cup raisins (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon grated fresh ginger
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine all ingredients and stir well.
  2. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat.
  3. Reduce heat to low and simmer uncovered for 45–60 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the chutney thickens and the peaches break down.
  4. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  5. Transfer to sterilized jars and refrigerate or can according to proper canning procedures.
  6. Serve chilled or at room temperature with meats, cheeses, or bread.

Notes

  • Adjust the sugar and spices to suit your taste.
  • Use white vinegar if apple cider vinegar is unavailable.
  • Chutney will thicken more as it cools.
