Peach Iced Tea

A refreshing homemade peach-infused iced tea that balances the natural sweetness of ripe peaches with the brisk flavor of black tea—perfect for hot summer days.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 ripe peaches, pitted and sliced
  • 8 cups (2 L) water, divided
  • 4 black tea bags (or 4 tsp loose-leaf black tea in an infuser)
  • 34 Tbsp granulated sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 1 Tbsp freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • Ice cubes, for serving
  • Fresh peach slices and mint sprigs, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine 2 cups of the water with the peach slices. Bring to a gentle boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes, lightly mashing the peaches to release their juices.
  2. Remove from heat, stir in the sugar until dissolved, and let the peach syrup cool for 5 minutes. Strain through a fine-mesh sieve into a heat-proof pitcher, pressing to extract maximum liquid; discard solids.
  3. Meanwhile, bring the remaining 6 cups of water to a boil. Remove from heat, add the tea bags, and steep for 4–5 minutes (longer for stronger tea). Remove tea bags and let the tea cool slightly.
  4. Pour the brewed tea into the pitcher with the peach syrup. Add lemon juice and stir well.
  5. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour, or until thoroughly chilled.
  6. Serve over ice, garnished with fresh peach slices and mint if desired.

Notes

  • Adjust sugar or replace with honey/agave to suit your sweetness preference.
  • For a sparkling version, replace half the water with chilled club soda just before serving.
  • Green tea works nicely if you prefer a milder, grassy flavor.
  • Store refrigerated in an airtight pitcher for up to 3 days.
