Million Dollar Spaghetti

Million Dollar Spaghetti is a hearty and comforting casserole that combines layers of pasta, rich meat sauce, and creamy cheese mixture, topped with melted cheese for a delicious, crowd-pleasing meal.

  • 1 lb spaghetti
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 jar (24 oz) marinara or spaghetti sauce
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup cottage cheese
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup butter (1 stick), sliced
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Cook spaghetti according to package directions; drain and set aside.
  3. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef until browned. Drain excess grease.
  4. Add marinara or spaghetti sauce to the beef and simmer for 10 minutes.
  5. In a mixing bowl, combine cream cheese, cottage cheese, sour cream, and Parmesan. Mix until smooth.
  6. Place half the butter slices on the bottom of the baking dish. Add half the cooked spaghetti on top.
  7. Spread cheese mixture over spaghetti, then top with remaining spaghetti and butter slices.
  8. Pour meat sauce evenly over the top.
  9. Sprinkle shredded mozzarella over the casserole.
  10. Bake uncovered for 30-35 minutes or until bubbly and golden on top.
  11. Let stand 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • Substitute ricotta cheese for cottage cheese if desired.
  • Can be made ahead and refrigerated overnight before baking.
  • Great for freezing—assemble, wrap well, and freeze for up to 3 months.
