- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 tbsp matcha green tea powder
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup milk
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line a 9-inch round cake pan.
- In a medium bowl, sift together flour, matcha powder, baking powder, and salt.
- In a separate large bowl, cream butter and sugar until pale and fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract.
- Gradually fold in dry ingredients, alternating with milk, until smooth.
- Pour batter into prepared pan and smooth the surface.
- Bake for 25–30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

- For a richer color and flavor, use high-quality ceremonial grade matcha.
- Dust the top with extra matcha powder or powdered sugar before serving.
