- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 1/4 cups granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 3/4 cup milk
- 3 large eggs
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2 tbsp hot water
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch loaf or bundt pan.
- In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture alternately with the milk, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.
- Divide the batter into two bowls. Mix the cocoa powder with hot water and stir into one portion of the batter until fully combined.
- Spoon the vanilla and chocolate batters alternately into the prepared pan. Swirl with a knife for a marbled effect.
- Bake for 45–55 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
- Ensure butter is at room temperature for easy creaming.
- Don’t overmix the batter to maintain tenderness.
- Marble patterns vary depending on how you swirl—be creative!
