Marble Cake

Marble cake is a classic dessert featuring a beautiful swirl of vanilla and chocolate cake batters. It’s moist, flavorful, and perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/4 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 3 large eggs
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 tbsp hot water

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch loaf or bundt pan.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture alternately with the milk, beginning and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.
  6. Divide the batter into two bowls. Mix the cocoa powder with hot water and stir into one portion of the batter until fully combined.
  7. Spoon the vanilla and chocolate batters alternately into the prepared pan. Swirl with a knife for a marbled effect.
  8. Bake for 45–55 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  9. Cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • Ensure butter is at room temperature for easy creaming.
  • Don’t overmix the batter to maintain tenderness.
  • Marble patterns vary depending on how you swirl—be creative!
