Glitter Cake Pops

Glitter Cake Pops are festive bite-sized treats made from crumbled cake mixed with frosting, formed into balls, coated in candy melts, and decorated with edible glitter. Perfect for parties, celebrations, or themed events.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 box cake mix (any flavor)
  • Ingredients as required for the cake mix (typically eggs, oil, water)
  • 1/2 cup frosting (store-bought or homemade)
  • 12 oz candy melts (color of choice)
  • Lollipop sticks
  • Edible glitter or luster dust
  • Sprinkles (optional)
  • Styrofoam block (for drying)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the cake according to the package instructions. Let it cool completely.
  2. Once cooled, crumble the cake into fine crumbs in a large bowl.
  3. Add frosting gradually and mix until the mixture holds together like dough.
  4. Roll the mixture into 1-inch balls and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  5. Chill the cake balls in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours or in the freezer for 30 minutes.
  6. Melt the candy melts according to the package instructions.
  7. Dip the tip of a lollipop stick into the melted candy, then insert it halfway into a cake ball.
  8. Dip the cake pop into the melted candy, gently tapping off excess coating.
  9. Before the coating sets, sprinkle with edible glitter or apply luster dust once dry.
  10. Stick the finished cake pops into a Styrofoam block to dry completely.
  11. Store in an airtight container at room temperature or refrigerate if needed.

Notes

  • Use gel food coloring to tint candy melts if needed.
  • Work in batches to keep the cake balls firm while dipping.
  • Luster dust is best applied with a dry brush once the coating is fully set.
