Creamy Garlic Mushroom Pasta (Without Jarred Sauce)

A rich and comforting pasta dish made with tender mushrooms sautéed in garlic, coated in a creamy sauce, and tossed with your favorite pasta for a delicious and satisfying meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 250g pasta (spaghetti, fettuccine, or penne)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 250g mushrooms, sliced
  • 200ml heavy cream
  • 50g Parmesan cheese, grated
  • 1 tsp salt (or to taste)
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp chili flakes (optional)
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions

  1. Cook pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve 1/2 cup pasta water, then drain and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  3. Add sliced mushrooms and cook for 5-6 minutes until they release moisture and become golden brown.
  4. Pour in heavy cream and stir well. Let simmer for 2-3 minutes until slightly thickened.
  5. Add grated Parmesan cheese, salt, pepper, and chili flakes. Stir until cheese melts into the sauce.
  6. Add cooked pasta to the skillet, tossing to coat. Add reserved pasta water a little at a time if sauce is too thick.
  7. Remove from heat and stir in chopped parsley.
  8. Serve hot with extra Parmesan if desired.

Notes

  • For a lighter version, substitute heavy cream with half-and-half or evaporated milk.
  • Use mixed mushrooms for a more complex flavor.
  • Add grilled chicken or shrimp for extra protein.
  • Gluten-free pasta can be used if preferred.
