Caramelized Banana Puff Pastry Tart

A delicious and elegant dessert featuring caramelized bananas baked atop a buttery puff pastry, perfect for a quick yet impressive treat.

  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • 3 ripe bananas, sliced
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt
  • Optional: powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Roll out the puff pastry on a floured surface and place it on the prepared baking sheet.
  3. In a skillet over medium heat, melt the butter and add brown sugar, cinnamon, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. Stir until smooth and bubbling.
  4. Add banana slices to the skillet and cook for 2–3 minutes until they start to caramelize. Remove from heat.
  5. Arrange the caramelized banana slices evenly over the puff pastry, leaving a small border around the edges.
  6. Bake for 20–25 minutes or until the pastry is golden and puffed.
  7. Remove from oven and let cool slightly before slicing. Optionally, dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

  • Best served warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
  • Use firm-ripe bananas for better texture after baking.
  • Can be made ahead and reheated briefly in the oven.
