BBQ Tofu with Grilled Pineapple

A flavorful and healthy vegan BBQ tofu dish paired with sweet and smoky grilled pineapple, perfect for a summer cookout or weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 block (14 oz) firm tofu, pressed and sliced
  • 1/2 cup BBQ sauce
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 fresh pineapple, peeled, cored, and sliced into rings
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup (optional, for extra sweetness on pineapple)
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Press the tofu for at least 30 minutes to remove excess moisture, then slice into slabs or cubes.
  2. In a bowl, mix BBQ sauce, olive oil, soy sauce, garlic powder, and black pepper.
  3. Marinate the tofu in the sauce for at least 30 minutes, or up to 2 hours for best flavor.
  4. Preheat grill or grill pan over medium heat and lightly oil the grates.
  5. Grill the tofu for about 4-5 minutes per side, brushing with extra BBQ sauce as it cooks.
  6. Brush pineapple rings with maple syrup (optional) and grill them for 2-3 minutes per side, until grill marks appear and they are slightly caramelized.
  7. Serve grilled tofu and pineapple together, optionally over rice or greens.

Notes

  • Use extra-firm tofu for best grilling results.
  • Make sure to press the tofu well to avoid sogginess.
  • You can add chili flakes to the marinade for a spicier version.
  • Leftovers can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days.
