Black Pasta with Garlic Butter

A visually striking and flavorful dish, Black Pasta with Garlic Butter combines the rich umami taste of squid ink pasta with a simple yet aromatic garlic butter sauce. Perfect for a quick yet elegant meal.

  • 8 oz (225g) black squid ink pasta
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Salt, to taste
  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley (for garnish)
  • Grated Parmesan cheese (optional, for serving)

Instructions

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the black pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve 1/2 cup of pasta water, then drain the pasta.
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter.
  3. Add the minced garlic and red pepper flakes (if using). Sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant, being careful not to burn the garlic.
  4. Add the cooked pasta to the skillet and toss to coat in the garlic butter sauce.
  5. If the pasta seems dry, add a bit of the reserved pasta water until the desired consistency is reached.
  6. Season with salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste.
  7. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley and serve with grated Parmesan if desired.
